When
God reveals His truth to us, we must embrace it and act upon it. God
will confirm His revelation and validate His message as we move
forward in obedience. Judgment in the land will bring people to the
point of decision. Mankind will either turn to Christ or suffer the
consequences of his rebellion.
Deut.
28:1, “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently
unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his
commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God
will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:..8 The LORD
shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all
that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the
land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” This promise was to the
nation of Israel, but it is a universal and timeless truth. The same
promise will apply to all believers. Walk in obedience and see the
hand of God manifest in your daily life. But if we refuse and rebel
we will bring God's judgment upon our own heads. Deut. 28:15, “But
it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the
LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes
which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon
thee, and overtake thee:...20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing,
vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to
do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because
of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.”
And
again in Jeremiah, the first thing God expects in return for His
unmerited grace is obedience. Jer. 7:22, “For I spake not unto your
fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the
land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: 23 But this
thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your
God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I
have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.”
To
be a servant of God is to obey His voice. How can we say that we love
Him and walk in disobedience? Obey His voice and He will instruct you
in the things which are to come. Luke 6:46, “And why call ye me,
Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to
me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom
he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged
deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose,
the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it:
for it was founded upon a rock.” This man is like one who builds
his life upon the Rock, which is Jesus Christ, and when the storms
come, and they will inevitably come, and beat unrelentingly upon this
house, he is not moved because his foundation is sure, solid and
impenetrable. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! Luke 6:49, “But he
that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation
built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat
vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was
great.” Failure to walk in obedience is an open invitation for
disaster.
A
second component to God’s judgment is the harvest of souls.
Judgment in the land will put people at the point of decision. They
will either turn to Christ or suffer the consequences of their
rebellion. All believers will respond in obedience to the call of
Christ for the last days harvest. Will you answer His call? (To be
