God
is faithful therefore we can be faithful! James 1:17, “Every good
gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning.” God does not change, not even a hint of variation. His
Word and Character are forever established What He has spoken will be
fulfilled to the letter. You can count on that without
discrimination!
Isaiah
40:28, “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the
everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth,
fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his
understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have
no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait
upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall
walk, and not faint.”
Introduction
– This begins the great second section (ch. 40-66) of the book. In
contrast to the dark judgment of the preceding chapters, it shines
with the light of the promises of restoration to the land (40-48), of
the coming of Messiah (49-57), and of the millennial blessings for
Israel (58-66). Though the people had not yet gone into exile, Isaiah
saw beyond that terrible time to future blessings.
Isaiah
talks about the sovereignty of God and His faithfulness to His Word
(promises). Isaiah 40:10 – His wages or reward of blessings to
the godly (obedient) and retribution to the wicked (disobedient).
Isaiah
40:22 – God is the Governor of the world, sitting on the circle of
the world and controlling the rulers of the world. Nothing escapes
His sight or control. (The plan of God is predetermined. The players
are not. His plan is not constrained by the limits of time.) The Book
has already been written. We know how this is going to end. God’s
plan has been established from the dawn of time. He is both the
beginning and the end and it all will play out just as the Book has
declared. The only influence we have in the outcome is the role we
will play. That is a matter of our choice. (continued)
