Our God Reigns!

1 Chronicles 16:31, “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.”

You might look at the current conditions in our world and question, “Who is in control of all this chaos?” The answer is not complicated. In fact, it is really simple. God is still in control! Even though Satan is the instigator of all the hate, unrest, and mayhem, he can do no more than what God allows him to do. God, who spoke the worlds into existence, set the earth on its axis, threw the stars into the heavens, and drew the boundaries for the oceans is still in control.

Satan is still subject to the Sovereign Power and Authority of the Lord God Almighty. You might ask the question, “If God is in control, why are we seeing our lives turned upside down by this COVID 19 pandemic? Why are we seeing all the rioting, the pain, suffering, and death that has come to our nation, cities, and communities?”

God is Sovereign! However, as our Creator, He created us with the idea that we should be a creature of “free will.” We were all created with the gift of choosing the path for our lives. It is obvious that some people do not choose wisely and therefore they suffer the consequences of those choices. And many times their choices will affect the lives of others.

We have become living witnesses of that very thing. Many are suffering all around our world because the choices of some to perpetuate evil have overflowed into the lives of the people around them. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” That is one sign of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. God is simply allowing prophecy to be fulfilled in preparation for the consummation of all things in Christ Jesus. 

We must look to God and draw strength from His Promises. He will not leave us or forsake us but He is getting us ready for our eternal home with Him in the New Heaven and the New Earth. This world will be destroyed and we will start all over just as in the Beginning. No sin, no evil, no sickness or disease but live in Paradise for Eternity because our God is still in control!
