Have
you noticed how we drift into different ways of living? For example,
some people just take life so slow and easy and don't really want to
go anywhere, happy where they are. While others are always in the
fast lane with places to go and people to see. They are so busy
having fun and accommodating their latest find of food or
entertainment, they almost live in a whirlwind.
D.
A. Carson said, "People DO NOT DRIFT toward holiness...Apart
from grace-driven effort, people DO NOT gravitate toward godliness,
prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord...We
drift toward compromise and call it tolerance: We drift toward
disobedience and call it freedom: We drift toward superstition and
call it Faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and
call it relaxation. We slouch toward prayerlessness and delude
ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism. We slide toward
godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated..."
Age
makes a difference in our pursuit of life and what it offers but I
believe we have drifted until many don't know how to find God. Start
where you are and surrender ALL to Him. Then, we must pursue HIM
until He catches us, captivates and changes us into His image...no
longer trapped by the worldly attractions and sounds...no longer
drifting on the sea of time... But looking unto our Blessed Hope, who
is coming to rescue us from this world and its alluring deceptive
ways. Are You Drifting?
(A
ship that loses its propulsion capability flounders helplessly and is
at the mercy of the winds and waves. Without the spiritual dynamic of
Holy Ghost power, we will flounder helplessly at the mercy of the
winds and waves of life)
