Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Jesus’ promise here is to provide the power and resources to accomplish His mission to preach the Gospel in all the earth. The power that He has, He has given to His Church. Matt. 28:18, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” The power comes with the commission!
If we will accept the commission, then we have a promise. The gates of hell cannot prevail against the Body of Christ. Why? Because we are covered in Christ's mantle. We are filled with His Holy Spirit! Matt. 16:17, “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Jesus had asked His disciples, “...Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” Peter’s reply was “...Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Peter had understood by Divine revelation that Jesus was the Son of God. The power that is the Body of Christ is the revelation of who He is. Therefore, by faith, His power is our power as the Holy Ghost indwells us. The “all power” resides in the Body of Christ and He will be with us “always, even unto the end of the world.” The gates of hell cannot withstand the power of the resurrected, glorified and everlasting Son of Almighty God.
The power of the Almighty will break the chains of sin, disobedience, and rebellion. We are His servants. We stand where He stands by His power. We will do His work and break through the enemy's fortresses. We will go into the enemy's domain and rescue the perishing in the NAME of JESUS, the CHRIST, the SON of the LIVING GOD! Let The Church Be The Church Of Jesus Christ!
