Ephesians
5:15, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as
wise, 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Wherefore be
ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18And
be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the
Spirit;”
I
am grateful for another day of life that our Lord has given us. He
has given us another opportunity to share His Gospel of Life with a
lost and dying world. We must use the hours, the minutes and seconds
wisely. We must use THIS TIME wisely! THIS TIME is so important
because our time to finish His mission is short.
Every
day and hour previous to this time has been intricate to the plan of
God and instrumental to our success in service to Him. However, many
times we have needed to return to God and ask Him for a “do over.”
The outcome of our plan didn’t turn out the way it was supposed to
or we failed to follow through with our plan for some reason.
Whatever the circumstance, God has given us a second chance to get it
right. We usually have had the opportunity to do that. We are come to
a time when that is no longer a luxury!
We
have come to the threshold of eternity and we will not have time to
go back and fix it. We must get it right the first time. I’m afraid
we will not have a second chance. How may people do we pass in a days
time never to see or influence that person again? What will happen to
them if no one else steps into their lives to influence them to
follow Jesus Christ? Sure, they will hear the Gospel message in some
form or fashion but you just lost the opportunity to make a
difference in eternity for that person or persons. We cannot afford
to be negligent in being a good steward of this time and the unsaved
certainly cannot afford for us to fail them.
In
Ephesians 5, Paul is instructing all who would be accepted of God to
follow Him as children of God. The Apostle is encouraging us all to
be imitators of Christ. What did Jesus do that we are to imitate? He
gave himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet
smelling savor. And God received Him as the sacrifice for the sins of
all mankind once and for all. Jesus Christ has called upon all who
will follow Him to be a living sacrifice for His cause. Am I willing
to sacrifice my life to follow in His?
Paul
goes on to state that the believer is to walk as children of light.
Previously, we were walking in darkness, but now we are light in the
Lord. Therefore, live as children of light to shine in the darkness
to direct the way of others. He said, “walk circumspectly,” or
carefully knowing that our lives, our testimony will affect those
around us depending on how the Gospel has transformed our lives.
“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Make the most of
the time God has given us knowing that when that moment has expired
it is lost forever to eternity. Evil is ever present to resist the
Gospel but the love of Jesus Christ is much stronger. Darkness is
ever present and will increase as we draw closer to the end but Light
shines even brighter in the darkness.
My
desire is to be a good steward of this time, this hour, this moment
God has given us to SHINE for Him. Will you join me in this prayer:
“Lord Jesus Christ guide me in the path you have chosen for me.
Direct my steps that they not turn to the right or left, that I will
not be distracted from Your mission today. May I live this day in the
very best possible way for You and in You. Thank You Lord for
including me in Your Plan! Glory and Honor to the Name of Jesus!
Amen.”
