Seeking God For Spiritual Awakening!

Acts 2:1, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

The writer of Acts is describing the events that took place on the Day of Pentecost celebrated 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus had instructed His disciples to go to Jerusalem and pray for the coming Comforter, the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ disciples were in the process of obeying the direction of Christ for a period of 10 days. They had to prepare for the promise of the Comforter.

As I read this passage in Acts 2, a particular phrase stands out to me, “...they were all with one accord...” The followers of Jesus Christ were preparing to receive one of the greatest moves of the Holy Spirit perhaps since the Creation. Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep and God CREATED…”And God said, Let there be light: and there was light...and God divided the light from the darkness.” The awesomeness of what God has created is beyond human comprehension yet God stepped into the darkness and CREATED.

All existing entities were “with one accord” with Creation, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Why did Jesus instruct His disciples to tarry at Jerusalem? God’s purpose was to Create Light in darkness. The young Church of Jesus Christ would be the instrument for that Creation. The Church had to come into “one accord” with the Spirit of God, the Mind of God, the plan of God. That could only happen in the atmosphere of the uninhibited moving of the Holy Spirit inhabiting flesh and blood bodies yet yielded unreservedly to His Creating. Therefore, Jesus knew that they would need that 10 days to prepare themselves for the outpouring of His Holy Spirit at that Pentecost!

As the Body of Christ, we must understand the task that is before us! The weight of our mission is insurmountable apart from the inspiration, revelation, and anointing of the Holy Spirit. We cannot finish what Jesus began without a visible, recognizable, Holy Ghost birthed  Spiritual Awakening of Pentecostal Proportions! (continued)
